Recent Updates

Greetings! Let's start 2020 with a new release. With this new version, available today, we'd like to outline some of the recent changes that are worth mentioning. In particular, there are three aspects that we have been working on:

  • Enhancing web browser restrictions and supporting the new Microsoft Edge, soon officially available
  • Improving, or adding, support for Windows in Korean, Japanese, Portuguese and more
  • Fixing minor issues based on customer feedback, from tweaking the UI, to revising the documentation

And, of course, making sure Deskman works with the latest Windows 10 releases... while still keeping backwards compatibility with Windows 7 and even Windows XP. Not a simple task!

All in all, we recommend you to upgrade your copies to the latest version, when possible -- specially on Windows 10. Have a great year!

Strong Customer Authentication

Starting September 14, a new European regulation will require stronger customer authentication (SCA) measures for many online payments. Measures that may require customers to confirm their credit card payments with two-factor authentication — depending on your bank, you may need to type a security code obtained from your phone in order to validate a payment, for example.

We are happy to announce that our credit card processing system (based on Stripe) is ready for this new regulation. This process is expected to be enforced gradually, starting September 14, with some banks declining payments unless they are not authenticated following the new regulation.

In essence: your online credit card payments (European, initially at least) will be now much safer, and just a bit more inconvenient.

All in all, we expect everything to work as usual, but please contact us if you have any issues with your payments. Feel free to contact us, for other payment methods, as well.

Deskman 8 Released

We are happy to announce Deskman 8, which is now available! This is a major release, with tons of improvements, new features, new restrictions and many user interface enhancements. Among the new features, two big ones: user accounts and profiles. Finally!

For this new version, we've tried to increase general usability, removing unnecessary elements and improving clarity, specially in Settings. Some options have been moved to a more convenient place, like groups, now easier to use and better integrated in the control center.

Lots of improvements under the hood, too: syncing should be faster, the custom Start Menu works better, data access security has been increased and many others.

As I mentioned, two of the most requested features are finally available: user accounts, to help you create multiple permission-based accounts; and profiles, to help you manage multiple configurations. But there are many other interesting improvements and changes: check out the changelog!

This is a highly recommended upgrade. As always, don't hesitate to get in touch with questions or feedback.

Now it's a good time to mention some of the improvements that we've been deploying the last few weeks or months.

Although product betas are not publicly available, we have a working system to make it easy for enterprise customers to test beta versions when needed. If you're interested in testing the next release, there's no harm in asking.

Specific old versions are not publicly available but can be requested. Even though we highly recommend using the latest version, we understand you may have validated a specific version after weeks of internal testing. No problem!

The changelog is now able to highlight your version so you know if you're up to date or not, and what updates you're missing.

The FAQ has been revised, making it easier to check specific topics, like maintenance and support. In any case, remember you can contact us to solve any doubts you may have.

Upgraded Customer Service

Upgrades are a, painful, necessity. We all suffer the stress of making sure everything works as expected, nothing broken!, after upgrading software or hardware. But, it must be done.

In our case, summer is the perfect time to perform upgrades... and that's what we've been doing (besides working on Deskman!) hopefully unnoticed by our customers and partners.

A new customer support system is now in place, allowing us to keep conversations more personal (no more cases), keep track of issues like before and provide a better service, like the ability to send/receive bigger attachments and minimize false positive spam messages.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with questions or feedback. We will not send you newsletters or spam, as always.

New Site

Welcome to our new website! This time, our main goal is making sure information is presented in a more clear and consistent way, no matter your device. We have also optimized the ordering process, which now includes fewer steps, among many other improvements.

The documentation section has been completely revamped. Downloads are easier to find. And we have a separate FAQ page where you can find answers to all your questions. Well, not *all* of them — use our support page to contact us in case of need.

Make sure to check the privacy page and the terms of use page to solve any doubts you may have about how we operate our business and take care of customer data.

We hope you like the new look!

As we approach the end of 2016, we'd like to thank all our customers for their support. Deskman 5 is now our best-selling version yet! When version 5 was released, we honestly thought it was a huge improvement, so we're thrilled to find out our customers agree.

Ultimately, our goal is to keep improving Deskman until the end of time. Remember: do not hesitate to send us comments or ask for features. We always read and evaluate what our users have to say about our software.

Recent Changes

Version 5.1 is now available. We recommend everyone to upgrade — desktop restrictions should now be applied instantly and consistently after log on.

In other news: Deskman Classic is still available for download and purchase, but we've moved the main access to the support page. Deskman Network 5 is now a much more robust solution and it's the one we recommend — Deskman Classic users need not worry, in any case.

Feel free to contact us with any questions or feedback.

New versions!

Deskman now officially supports Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge. But there's more! There are lots of improvements, requested features, tweaks and bug fixes.

We strongly recommend you to upgrade to Deskman Network 4.1, as soon as you can. But if you're a classic guy or girl, we've not forgotten you — Deskman Classic 16 is here and it's compatible with version 15.

Next: Windows 10

Have you tried the Windows 10 Technical Preview yet? Well, we have, but you don't have to. Our impressions are positive. The Start Menu is back and there are tons of user interface improvements. Windows 10 seems to include the best parts of Windows 7 and Windows 8 — Microsoft is trying hard to push Windows forward, and it shows.

The point is: we're hard at work, testing Deskman on Windows 10, fixing small issues and adding new interesting features. When Windows 10 is out, probably by summer, we'll be ready!

That is all. Have a nice day!

Hopefully, next month, we'll be renewing our website and releasing our best Deskman version yet. You see, 2015 marks our 15th year alive! Well, not us, we're much older than that (sigh); we mean our company, Anfibia. As such, we'd like to sincerely thank all of our customers and users, old and new, big and small.

After all these years, we've used lots of applications and services, here are some of our favorites:

  • Stripe, the best credit card processor service we've used, bar none
  • Parallels Desktop, an indispensable tool to develop and test Deskman
  • Bootstrap, our preferred HTML, CSS and JS framework
  • BBEdit, our favorite text editor that doesn't suck ®
  • Transmit, the wonderful FTP app we use to update this site
