Installing Desktop Orbiter on multiple systems is a simple task. Check some deployment tips below.

Stealth Satellite Installation (Registered Users)

Contact support to download a special setup file that installs satellites hiding them from the Control Panel / Uninstall screen.

Note, though, that stealth satellites will require manual uninstallation.

Deploying Satellites (Advanced Users)

Once you've installed the first satellite, multiple systems can be deployed by copying the following files from the installation directory:

• Satellite File: c:\windows\system32\sat\desksat.exe
• Satellite Application File: c:\windows\system32\sat\desksatapp.exe

Copy them to your systems. The default installation directory is Windows\System32\sat. Once the copy is done, you have to install the service. Execute the following from a command prompt:

• To install the service: DESKSAT.EXE -INSTALL

Note, though, that manually installed satellites will require manual uninstallation.

Installation Commands

The setup program (SATELLITESETUP.EXE) accepts optional command line parameters. These can be useful to system administrators, and to other programs calling the setup program:

• /SILENT, /VERYSILENT: Instructs Setup to be silent or very silent. When Setup is silent the wizard and the background window are not displayed but the installation progress window is. When a setup is very silent this installation progress window is not displayed.
  
• /DIR="x:\dirname": Overrides the default directory name displayed on the Select Destination Location wizard page. A fully qualified pathname must be specified.
  
• /NOICONS: Instructs Setup to initially check the Don't create a Start Menu folder check box on the Select Start Menu Folder wizard page.

Data Path

Desktop Orbiter stores application data in %ALLUSERSPROFILE%.

Firewall Configuration

Important: configure your firewall to allow connections IN and OUT on the following executables:

• orbiter.exe: Desktop Orbiter main application - Control Center in the administrator's computer.
• desksat.exe: Desktop Satellite service - Satellite in remote computer
• desksatapp.exe: Desktop Satellite application - Satellite in remote computer
