Switch 2

Switch 2 is out! Our renowned shutdown manager is now even better. And we've kept the same low price, so what are you waiting for? Give it a try!

Version 2 adds synchronization, making automatic configuration on multiple installations possible. Here are some of the new, remarkable features:

  • New condition: Idle Time — shut down PCs when nobody is using them
  • Ability to cancel shutdown events
  • Avatars! — add your personal touch
  • Simplified email notification setup

  • And tons of small improvements and changes

These past weeks, we've been working to improve our payment system, which is now more flexible and hopefully better for everyone:

  • Pay in your own currency
  • More credit cards accepted
  • Payments by phone, optionally
  • Get the software on CD, optionally

As always, feel free to contact us if you find any issues or if you want to pay by wire, check, purchase order, etc.

Now, if you don't mind, let's get back to work! There'll be lots of great new features for Deskman and Switch in the year 2013!

Happy New Year, BTW!

November 09 2012

We've completely revised this site for improved usability, especially on mobile devices. Browsing our website on tablets and smartphones is now much better — contacting support and placing orders do not require you to fight with the screen anymore. Hopefully!

In any case, we strive to provide an optimal browsing experience, so let us know if you find any issues.

PS. Where did the navigation menu go? Don't panic! Click this button on the top-right side of the screen and the menu will magically appear.

Cheers!

Deskman 12.3 is now available. Check out what's new:

  • Ultra Kiosk Mode
  • Windows 8 support
  • Revamped Safe Start Menu
  • New Autorun implementation
  • Autorun moved to Settings
  • Revised web interface
  • Improved winkey restrictions
  • Optimized activation and start up
  • Firewall-friendly setup

This release is so big, it could have easily been a major new version on its own, but we love to let our customers get new, meaningful features and improvements as soon as possible, and for free. Yeah!

If you purchased Deskman 2012, you can upgrade to version 12.3, free of charge. We recommend you to upgrade now, if only for the following reasons: bug fixes, a much nicer Safe Start Menu, and a much better Autorun. But, it's up to you!

Cheers!

Summer means finding time to relax, cleaning up your mind, going to the beach and... starting new projects! As such, we'd like to announce Anfibia Switch, a shutdown manager. A simple tool for a simple task.

— A shutdown manager, you say? Windows includes a shutdown button, you know.
— Yes, but can you shut down your PC remotely? Can you easily program your computer to be restarted every workday at 10:00 AM? Can you put the computer to sleep by tweeting Abracadabra? Huh?
— Hmmm... Can I shut down my PC from my tablet?
— Yes! Switch is web-based, which means you can access it anywhere.

Switch allows you to reboot, shut down or put the computer to sleep easily. You only need to open Switch on your favorite web browser and click a button. And you can program switches based on your own conditions.

Give it a try!

You are looking at a redesigned website. Featuring more contrast and readability — as a matter of fact, a much more standard layout, palette and typography. Content-wise, there is now more consistency. And, internally, we've updated libraries and code to make the purchasing and contacting processes, well, better.

We hope you like the changes. Let us know what you think!

Cheers!

Contrary to popular belief, decentralized management is a much more convenient way to control multiple installations. Administration gets easier. Picture it like this: every installation includes its own control center. As simple as that. In other words: when you access one installation, you have access to all the rest.

Peers

A peer is a remote installation. Peers find each other in the network. Peers are connected to each other at the same level. Peers are decentralized.

A decentralized approach provides you with many advantages, in terms of remote management and administration:

  • Installation: There is no need to install additional software
  • Usage: There is no need to learn how to use additional software
  • Configuration: Peers find each other automatically
  • Availability: If a peer is down, try another
  • Dependency: Peers are self-contained—zero dependencies

Simple is Better

Forget about having to install multiple packages. Just one. The same on all your computers. And forget about losing control—there are no client-server dependencies. If the network is down, you can still access peers locally.

Install and Forget About it

That's the point, right? Security software needs to work efficiently, silently in the background so that you—the administrator, the user—can focus on other, much more important, tasks.

Eventually, you'll need to manage your workstations. No problem! Open a web browser, point to one of your peers and get things done!

Cheers!

First of all, we have two big announcements to make:

  • Deskman 2012 is out: Now with remote management and tons of new features.
  • Desktop Orbiter is no longer available: Deskman 2012 takes over.

Deskman 2012 includes plenty of improvements and new features, here's a taste:

  • Remote Deskman: A fully-featured web interface, with dashboard and everything
  • Decentralized Management: The easiest way to re-configure and access Deskman installations remotely
  • Deployment: Install Deskman on one computer, deploy on all the rest easily
  • Tons of Tweaks: Refined interface, improved installation, safe mode support, plenty of bug fixes—check out the changelog

Remote Deskman is a big step forward: administrators are now able to manage security settings remotely via PC, Android, iPad, iPhone in a very comfortable way. Let us know what you think.

A word to Desktop Orbiter users: thank you very much for your support, but there's no reason to maintain Desktop Orbiter now that Deskman is much more capable. Stick with us, Deskman has lots of things to offer!

Some important remarks:

  • Usage: Feel free to use your old Desktop Orbiter copies for as long as you like. Licenses do not expire—support entitlement does.
  • Support: Desktop Orbiter users can still purchase extended support.
  • Upgrading: Desktop Orbiter users can upgrade their licenses to Deskman 2012 at a special discount. Contact us.

Cheers!

Did you know you holding the Ctrl key when selecting New Task from Task Manager opens a command prompt? And it works on all versions, from XP to Windows 8.

If you are interested in why this rogue feature was implemented, here's the explanation.

The Task Manager is a very useful tool, but it provides some users with excessive power over services and applications.

On a side note, Windows 8 Customer Preview includes an impressive new task manager, with even more tabs and options. Again, very useful, except if you want to keep the desktop secured.

Deskman to the rescue! Version 11 includes a Safe Task Manager, which substitutes the original providing the right amount of options, all of them configurable. Only running applications are shown, everything else is hidden.

What if I need the original Task Manager, you say? Press the Boss Key and voilà!

Try Deskman if you haven't. Full version, free evaluation for 30 days. Cheers!

Mar 20 2012

A new version of our minimalistic server monitoring solution is now available. With this new release, we're simplifying the licensing system. Now, there's only one license type available: Professional.

Professional licenses now only cost $69 ~ €55 and still grant you:

  • Unlimited monitors and databases
  • 1 year of free updates
  • 1 year of fast tech support
  • And most importantly, our love!

What about users with Advanced or Enterprise licenses, you say? Well, they automatically get the following:

  • An additional year of support and updates
  • New major version free of charge
  • Twice our love!

Cheers!

Let's hear them. Send us an email with the details. Please? Pretty please?

Deskman 11 is the best desktop security manager But, as you know, there's always room for improvement and it'd be great to receive as much additional feedback as possible to make version 12 the best one ever!

With Deskman 11, filtering websites is amazingly simple. Add safe keywords to allow users to browse the company's website, for example. Websites not included in the list are automatically closed.

About Deskman's Safe Browsing:

  • It closes tabs, warns users, logs closed websites
  • It simply works: simple, effective and unobtrusive
  • Compatible with all modern browsers

The Web Browsing tab allows you to stop web browsing. All websites will be closed, except for the ones that are allowed by using keywords. Enter a list of keywords -one, at least- to enable Safe Browsing. Use the Options | Add Web Browsing Keywords menu, or press Ctrl-A to add keywords to the list.

Well, what are you waiting for? Download Deskman 11 and see how it works for yourself. Cheers!
